Quarto plate prices in Europe

Quarto plate prices in Europe are following in the path of sheet steel with a large increase expected for Q3 deliveries. The rise could take German delivered base prices as high as €1,000/t, a €160/t increase from around €840/t in Q2, according to traders. But one mill estimated that the Q3 increase would be closer to €100/t.

Corus has announced a Q3 increase of £60/t (€75/t) for the UK, while in continental Europe, Salzgitter of Germany and Finland’s Rautaruukki have both warned of Q3 increases for their products. In high-end and quenched plate, Sweden’s SSAB has said that Q3 prices will rise to compensate for higher raw material costs.
